Common Household Dinosaurs

The common household dinosaurs of Felominar are many. From the tiny skynks to the huge monoceratops, there are so many dinosaurs that can be found in the use of persons throughout the world. All of them have their respective uses and each one has a unique place in the home and family.

Skynk
Skynks are usually small reptiles capable of flight. They tend to be brightly colored and are often capable of very loud vocalizations. They also tend to be somewhat intelligent with some capable of mimicking language and some being given the task of delivering messages to other people.

DESCRIPTION
Skynks are lizards with an extended ribcage that fold over their abdomens. They also have a kind of “sail” structure along their spine which they use both in flight, courtship and for regulating their body heat. They come in a variety of mixed colors with the most common being green with red stripes and yellow with blue spots. They are known for their loud and rhythmic vocalizations and are noted for the beauty of their “singing”. They are usually around 2 hands long and weigh around 1/14 of a stone.

USES
Most breeds of skynk are not all that intelligent and the vast majority are just kept as pets because of their decorative coloring and or soothing singing. But then there are also those that are intelligent enough to gain essential uses. These include skynks that are intelligent enough to not just mimic but also understand speech and those capable of flying long distances to deliver messages.

Lizard Hound
Lizard hounds are common, quadrupedal dinosaurs known for their remarkable intelligence and general usefulness to people. Wild lizard hounds are pests often preying on livestock and are generally demonized by farmers and shepherds. Tamed lizard hounds are a different story however and are often kept around as companions and are even trusted with guarding livestock.

DESCRIPTION
Lizard hounds are four-legged and fast-moving dinosaurs that are usually around 5 hands in length, around 3 hands tall and weigh in at about 1/7 of a stone. They come in a wide range of colors and patterns and there are even those capable of changing their skin pigmentation at will. They often have powerful jaws and sharp claws and have forked tongues that they flick constantly like snakes and monitor lizards to taste the air. Some breeds also have a large frill around their necks and can spit globs of acidic poison at their prey or as a defense weapon.

USES
Thanks to their high intelligence, lizard hounds are often kept as pets, either as simple companions in the home or are trusted with herding and guarding livestock. Some lizard hounds even serve in the military as guards, trackers or serve as the companions of scouts. The ability of lizard hounds to spit toxins at enemies and some of the better-trained ones can be made to fire in volleys at enemies.

Kiloraptor
Kiloraptors are the fast and hardy two-legged dinosaurs used as either steeds or beasts of burden. Kiloraptors come in many different breeds with more than a few being bred for a specific purpose. Suffice to say, kiloraptors are some of the most useful dinosaurs in the world alongside lizard hounds.

DESCRIPTION
Kiloraptors are large bipedal dinosaurs capable of great speed and endurance. They are widely known for their vicious claws both on their front extremities and their hind feet, their razor-sharp teeth and the impaling horn on their noses. They are thought to be close relatives of the more common velociraptor and are usually 15 hands long, 7 hands in height and have a weight of about 40 stones.

USES
Kiloraptors often find use as beasts of burden, either helping farmers till their land and simply carrying people to different places. More well-trained kiloraptors are often put together in teams to pull behind them carriages and wagons. Yet even better bred and trained kiloraptors serve as steeds of war, carrying mounted warriors into combat and fighting with their claws, teeth and horn along with their riders.

Monoceratops
Monoceratops are large quadrupedal dinosaurs capable of carrying the heaviest of burdens. Lacking the speed of kiloraptors and the intelligence of lizard hounds, monoceratops often serve the role of simple beasts of burden. That said though, they are quite probably the strongest dinosaurs that can be tamed and trained and are usually given tasks like pulling heavy loads like the wagon-houses of the Doltran people.

DESCRIPTION
Monoceratops are related to triceratops and styracosaurs but instead possess only one horn on their noses with their frills possessing no ridges or spines. They often trod along on all four legs and, when not working, spend most of their time grazing in open fields. Monoceratops tend to be quite large, often being 50-60 hands long, around 25-30 hands tall and have a weight of about 900 stones.

USES
Monoceratops often work as heavy-duty beasts of burden, dragging behind them large loads. Sometimes, multiple monoceratops can be trained to pull behind them even heavier loads such as small houses or buildings. Well-trained monoceratops are sometimes used in warfare to drag siege engines or cannons.

Stratodactyl
Stratodactyls are flying reptiles often trained to carry goods or even people from one place to another. That said, while certainly very useful, stratodactyls are very difficult to train unlike lizard hounds or kiloraptors. Worse yet, they are known to be occasionally vindictive and will drop their rider if they find them cruel.

DESCRIPTION
Stratodactyls are flying reptiles whose front limbs are modified into great wings. They are a close relative of pterosaurs and possess a heavy beak instead of jaws with teeth. Stratodactyls are notoriously hard to train and have a wingspan of about 50 hands, have a length of about 30-40 hands and weigh at around 500-700 stones.

USES
Stratodactyls are often used to carry basic cargo and sometimes even people over great distances in the sky. Due to being very hard to train, few trust the beasts to actually carry them and riders often have to be raised alongside them so that they can be made truly effective. If a stratodactyl is ever trained well enough, they can be employed in combat as airborne attackers, dropping heavy objects or explosives from the sky.
